Woodland Inspired Christmas
|Have you ever thought of having a Woodland themed Christmas? Here at Sturbridge Yankee Workshop we have done all the hard work for you and gathered some of our best winter forest-inspired items to help you decorate your home for the holidays and throughout the winter season. A great way to start is to think about how to bring elements from the outdoors into your indoor living space.|
|DIY - Woodland Ideas|
1. Collect pinecones and twigs from outside and let them dry out indoors, or if the weather is nice, out in the sun. Display them throughout your Christmas tree or along your mantel. You can also string the pinecones together to make natural garland to offer a different look than traditional evergreen swag.
2. Before it snows or rains, collect the dozens of acorns you most likely have scattered across your lawn. Rinse off and let dry in your oven on low heat or near the heater. Mix with your favorite smelling dried potpourri and display in a glass vase for a woodland inspired centerpiece.
Birds often stand out this time of year because of their contrasting colors to the season outdoors. Consider avian accents throughout your home to make the woodland theme come to life. Certain birds offer more woodland inspiration, such as the chickadee and cardinal, often appearing on many Sturbridge items, such as the Chickadee Stained Glass Night Light offering a whimsical touch, and the realistic Winter Cardinals Print.
Who do you see on a walk in the woods? Elk, bear, moose and owls all prowl the woodland forest, often out of sight of us two-legged onlookers. Bring these animals into clear view and on display in your home with thematic items that will work well with your current woodland inspired Christmas furnishings.
