Quick Overview

  • Handcrafted of solid knotty pine wood
  • Use on a coffee table, ottoman or as a serving tray
  • Not intended for use as a cutting board

Handcrafted multifunctional solid knotty pine utility board can be used in the kitchen to create extra, sometimes much needed, counter space on your stove. You can also use it as a serving tray or display on an ottoman in the living room for additional table space. Not food safe and not intended for use as a cutting board. Wipe with a dry or damp cloth to clean. Pine lumber from Sustainable Forestry Initiative sawmills. Lightly stained with earth friendly water based stains.

Natural appearance of knots, variances in color, finish or wood, and the use of plugs or screws in place of nails or staples, should be expected due to its handcrafted nature. Intended to have an old look and feel; no two items are exactly the same. USA.

Decided to Order.... Review by Jadda
...in spite of some of the lesser reviews. I am very satisfied with this "noodle" board. The issue with laying the board on a glass-top stove is easily solved with furniture protector pads. When not on the stove, perfect fit BTW, I use it under my cutting boards and to prepare plates of food. My new counter tops stay absolutely pristine. It is rustic and unpolished, but that is what I wanted for my farm kitchen. So far, folks have been quite impressed when they see it. And as large as it is, it is quite lightweight. I've ordered a lot from SYW, and I've yet to be dissatisfied. Love the sales, coupons, and emails. (Posted on 4/19/17)
Not worth the price! Review by Denise
I received my utility tray today. The bottom of the tray has chunks of wood missing. The finish is not good at all, very rough. I used Annie Sloan's clear wax on it and it really made a difference in the finish. I really wanted this tray for my stove, even though the previous reviews are bad...thought I might get a good one! You would think that the company who makes these would make a note of the various problems stated by reviewers and do something to improve, but I guess they just don't care! I could return it and Make them send a call tag ,but I will keep it as it really looks nice on top of my stove. (Posted on 9/27/16)
poor quality Review by Linda
This item was poorly made, and I would not recommend it to anyone. I will sand and refinish it myself, rather than pay to ship it back, but it was way too expensive for this
poor quality. This was my first order from this company, and I will think a long time
before using them again.

Very Disappointing Review by Fred
I had exactly the same experience as the prior customer. This Board is extremely poorly constructed. The U shaped nails used on the bottom to join the principal boards were not fully inserted causing a rough, uneven surface (clearly risking damage to your cook top), the wood is inexpensive, low grade pine, the piece was not sanded prior to staining and the overall appearance resembles a project made by elementary school children at summer camp. Just what I was looking for. Review by Karen
I have a country primitive kitchen and this looks fantastic on top of my stove. The black paint is faded or rubbed in just the right areas. Everyone that sees mine, wants one. (Posted on 4/23/13)
Given the cost of this item, I'd have to say this is a huge disappointment in every respect--price, value and quality. After having opened the package and inspected tthis item, i could not in all honesty recommend anyone buy it. It is cheaply made, the base consisting of two rough pine boards screwed together. The whole product needs a good sanding, and the coat of allegedly red coloring is hardly red and very thin. The bottom was not sanded at all and the holes created where the screws joined the two pieces together not filled, with even the edges left rough. I will be taking wood filler to the holes and then sanding the bottom with a medium grit paper, the rest wih fine grit and repainting to achieve the look I wanted I thought i would be getting. Hardly what I'd expect to find from a product costing $100+ (with shipping). Save your money: look elsewhere, or if you're handy, build one yourself. (Posted on 2/1/13)
2 1/2 Stars - Not Worth The Money Review by juana
This is indeed made of knotty pine wood. The top of the utility board is rough, and in need of sanding. I was very disappointed in this "board". I will have to resand and refinish. The finish is a very dull black matte finish, which in my opinion, could have used another coat of paint.

If it wasn't so expensive to send back, it would already be be on its way back.
