Sudoku Instructions

Fundamentally, there is only one basic rule to the game of Sudoku: Every puzzle's 9 x 9 grid must be completed with the numbers 1 through 9 with no duplicate numbers for:

  • Each column
  • Each row
  • Each 3 x 3 section (9 sections on the board)
For each puzzle, specific numbers are pre-set on the grid using the large red pieces, which cannot be changed. The large black pieces are then used as the solution for the puzzle. The only difference between the starter puzzles is the position and the amount of pre-set numbers (noted with the large red pieces).

The instructions include a great number of starter puzzles. An additional supply can be found in books!
