Karen Cruden

An Artist's Inspiration

At Sturbridge Yankee Workshop we are proud to introduce to you, Karen Cruden, one of America's premier folk artists. Before Karen became the renown artist she is today, she spent much of her adult life as an art teacher. She was encouraged by the children she taught, to create what was in her heart; taking inspiration from their carefree innocence and approach to various art forms. However, it was long before her teaching days that Karen was exposed to art. Her father, also an accomplished artist, helped to foster much of the creativity and heart we see in Karen's work currently.

It's in the Details

Karen's primitive folk art style is showcased by the thoughtful detail she gives to each aspect of her designs on chair pads, pillows and other home decor, and many of the seasonal looks feature colors and imagery that make perfect complements to your home all year long. Her imagery is brought out beautifully in hooked wool, offering decorative home accents that are also comfortable.
