Pretty, but... Review by P mac
I have had this bench for about 5 1/2 months. Last month one of the stretchers broke. I admit I rested a foot on it, but not with a lot of pressure, and it snapped clean in two. I think the wood that is used is not quite sturdy enough. The bench doesn't get a lot of use, as it is on the wall side of my dining table, so I'm not sure it would hold up long to everyday wear and tear. It is not worth the full price, but if you get it on sale, then I guess its good value. That said, SYW really needs to do something about their shipping costs, in order to compete with other online home decor retailers. (Posted on 5/16/18)

Beautiful beach. A little difficult to assemble but watching the video was a huge help. We worth the price. Very sturdy and is perfect for an entry or bedroom. I decorate with Vintage Rustic and Antique ..it fits perfect in my home. I'm sure it is versital in all decor. I love it... Thanks Sturbridge for another fine product. Kim (Posted on 1/24/16)
Attractive but poor assembly instructions Review by Marilyn
What caught my eye about this bench is the size (not too big) and the style. It arrived incredibly quickly after ordering, in 1 1/2 days, which I find amazing. I would have given it 5 stars except for the poor instructions for putting it together. The print was blurry and small and I had to use a magnifying glass at times. I would suggest, when assembling this bench, to forget the paper instructions and go on-line and look at the instructions that are printed in the catalog. They are much easier to read. Even with that, though, you still have to decipher the pictures. The video is also helpful, but I was using my iPad and couldn't pause the video so I could catch up. It was a little difficult lining up some of the holes and it is much easier with two people doing the assembly. The bench legs have black plastic screw-on tips, which is fine, except one set of legs did not come with them on. My husband had to take a trip to the hardware store to find a comparable size stick-on tip so the bench does not rock. Now that it is together it looks beautiful in our family room. Overall, a nice product. (Posted on 9/27/15)
Windsor bench-good value Review by william
After searching for two years for a good quality Windsor bench I found yours. Most were made from pine and flimsy but yours looked sturdy and made from a hardwood.
I found it easy to assemble but was a bit disapointed with the seat. One side of the seat is flat and one side has rounded edges. The threaded inserts and the hole for the arm rests required that it be assembled with the flat side up. A careful examination of the photo in the magazine confirmed that this was correct. Overall I am please with the bench.

Great Accent Piece Review by Susan
I love the look of the bench and after looking at it in the catalog for years I finally purchased it about two years ago. I had it in my living room for about a year and then moved it to my dining room last year after painting the house. I love having at least one black accent piece in each room because I think it really adds to the shaker/americana/primitive look that I love. When my husband first put it together we heard a slight crack. I am not sure if the holes did not line up properly or if it was that he tightened the screws too much. In any case it has not seemed to matter as we have used it as an extra seat (for 2) many times and it is still holding up just fine. It looks great with the red star hooked pillow that I also bought a couple of years ago from SYW. I also used a coupon to purchase this which made it much more affordable. (Posted on 6/8/13)
Windsor bench black/stained seat Review by R
We just finished putting our Windsor bench together. iI took about 1 hgr 20 mins.

Surprised it was made in China! But it is sturdy and good quality. It looks perfect in our entry way. I love it.

One hole in the seat for one arm, split in the inside recessed circle. My husband put in a washer and all was well.

Overall Pleased Review by Mary
The bench looks great now that it is assembled and sitting in my entryway! It was a bit difficult to assemble, I wish I had noticed the video about assembling it before trying to put it together according to the written instructions. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase! (Posted on 4/7/13)
quality lacking Review by karen
First, I love the design of this bench, and the price is great (esp with coupons!), but the seat arrived damaged with regards to the stain, so I contacted customer service and they were excellent! They immediately sent another seat, telling me to keep the original. However the new seat has a slight superficial crack on one end of it, but I decided to proceed. As I started to screw in the last screw on the seat, it started to separate where the crack is. I can't be bothered to take it apart, it still looks awesome, and I still have the original seat that I suppose I could refinish if the crack gets worse. I still love the looks, and elsewhere stores were selling similar for $600, so I will accept the bench as is at this point as I love it. Maybe a cushion or pillow will hide the flaw. Wonderful service, very caring staff, but made in Malaysia.... (Posted on 1/21/13)
Not easy to assemble Review by Laura
For the price, the qualtiy of this bench is good. It was not easy to assemble though. I have put together a lot of IKEA furniture and this was much more difficult due to burrs in the hardware and screw holes that are slightly misplaced. You have to have a couple of people working on it to force things into alignment. Do not follow the assembly instructions! Check out the assembly video on the SYW website. (Posted on 1/16/13)
