Beautifully handcrafted in North Carolina from solid ash hardwood, our Ladderback Chairs present beautiful turned finials and classic, steambent curved slats. Also featured is the chair's attractive, twisted paper seat; which gives our Ladderback Chairs a true country home feel. Counter and bar stools also available. No assembly required. - I was excited about this ladderback chair for a kitchen desk chair and thought it would work well with our traditional decor. However, upon receiving it, we were appalled at its quality and comfort. The finish was rough and not at all sanded smooth before staining. I do admit the rush seat was well made. The back of the chair was not slightly rounded or at an angle that made it comfortable for actually sitting in it. My husband and I both sat on it. The back literally pushed us forward. We sent it back knowing that we would never sit in it or expect anyone else to sit on it. We had only wanted it for occasional use. Even if it were a bit comfortable, it looked like a very cheaply made chair. This makes me reluctant to order other furniture from Sturbridge. I hope this isn't typical of their furniture. - First of all, I ordered these stools expecting a 3 week wait...they came in 1 week! WOW! They are heavy, sturdy and beautiful! I have stools from SYW that don't have backs but are the same seat/legs and I've had them for 11 years..yes 11! They are comfortable, durable and always look nice...even after 11 years! (And I have two children!) :) I am so excited about the addition of my 4 ladderbacks...LOVE these stools and know they will hold up for the duration! (Posted on 11/19/12)

- Really like these stools! They are the perfect size - not too wide or tall as to overpower the counter. I bought three of these counter stools ten years ago for our center island. The chair frames themselves are in excellent condition while the rush seats have finally given out - too much abuse by a family of eight! Not to worry though! SYW customer service contacted the manufacturer on our behalf and got us replacement seats at a fraction of the cost for new stools.
